Somatic-Informed Psychotherapy Sessions
In a somatic therapy session, we integrate body-based awareness and mindful movement into the therapeutic process. Somatic therapy emphasizes the connection between mind and body, using practices such as breath work, grounding, and gentle movement to help you process emotions, release stored tension, and move through trauma. This approach recognizes that emotions and past experiences are often held in the body, and engaging the body can be a powerful pathway to healing, regulation, and increased resilience.
The structure of this service includes a brief check-in, followed by:
90 minute session: approximately five minutes of breath work or grounding, thirty minutes of gentle yoga, and a final five minutes of grounding or breath work to close out the gentle movement portion of the session
50 minute session: approximately five minutes of breath work or grounding, fifteen minutes of gentle yoga, and a final five minutes of grounding or breath work to close out the gentle movement portion of the session.
After this movement-based portion, we transition into a traditional talk therapy format for the remainder of the session. These practices are designed to complement talk therapy but are not a replacement for medical or psychiatric treatment.
